Healthy Canadian Networks (HCN) is pleased to announce that The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has agreed to support HCN’s PatientDirect TV service as a valuable patient educational tool within family medicine practices across Canada.
PatientDirect TV is a video-based TV program, distributed to physicians’ office waiting- areas over the Internet and watched by patients on large-screen TV’s before their visit with their doctor. The PatientDirect TV program focuses on prevention, health tips, new clinical research, disease management as well as offering daily news, sports and weather features, specific to various parts of Canada.
“We believe that the waiting room is an untapped resource for educating patients about health matters and is an excellent venue for encouraging patients to take a more active role in their overall health care”, states Dr. Don Wilson of Healthy Canadian Networks (HCN). “We are pleased to have the College support PatientDirect TV and we look forward to working with Canadian family physicians, to enhance health care delivery across Canada”.

Healthy Canadian Networks will provide its PatientDirect TV program to all interested family physician members of the CFPC who choose to avail themselves of this program, at preferential rates. The CFPC will assist with content development and contribute some content features to PatientDirect TV. As a benefit to CFPC members, HCN will also customize a portion of its TV programming at each installed location, to assist the host physician(s) with making announcements, articulating clinical policies, or with various information pieces deemed important by the doctor(s).
As in the past, HCN will offer air time to third-party sponsors, such as government departments, associations and private companies, for promotional purposes.
